When, as a leader, was the last time you reached out and asked for help? For me, it was yesterday!
My aunt and uncle haven’t been feeling well, and my fabulous cousin Kirsti Schellenberger has been doing an amazing job caring for them. I’ve been keeping in close contact, but wanted to do something more than just “check in”! What I wanted to do was send my cousin some tasty chocolate from a great artisanal chocolate shop near her house!
When I called the chocolate shop I found out that they don’t have any kind of same day delivery service and that their online ordering was closed until January 2nd. But I wanted my cousin to have the chocolate to enjoy yesterday!
So…I decided to ask my fabulous friend Jessica House, who lives in the same area for help! When I explained the situation, and asked if she would be willing to go to the chocolate shop, pick up the chocolate I would order, and then drop it off to my cousin, Jessica didn’t hesitate! She said “Of course,” immediately!
An hour later, my cousin had her chocolates!
Many people don’t like to ask for help. Especially when they are wearing their Leader Hat. They think it shows weakness…or that they can't handle everything on their own. But what I’ve found is the people LOVE to help! Helping someone else brings a special kind of joy like no other!
So today, I’m going to challenge you, especially when you are wearing your Leader Hat, to ask for help from someone!
It’s not just a great way to get things done, it’s simply the best way to activate the kindness of those who follow you!
